The PMEA Citation of Excellence is awarded to a member (elementary, middle, high school educator or Higher Education/Music Supervisor) from each PMEA district. This year's nominees must be PMEA member music educators at the High School/College/University Level.
The nomination form must be completed by the nominator (must be a PMEA member) and must include answers to three questions from both the nominator AND the administrator (principal/superintendent/dean) of the nominee. Be specific in regards to the accomplishments, teaching schedule, special teaching techniques and/or outreach activities of the nominee. Other PMEA members may also provide a letter of recommendation for the nominee.
The three questions are:
- Provide a brief description of the job responsibilities of the nominee (courses taught, extra-curricular activities, number of schools, leadership actions, etc.)
- What makes this person an appropriate choice for this award? (exceptional activities, outreach programs, community involvement, PMEA involvement, etc.?)
- How long have you known the nominee and in what capacity?
Deadline to submit is Monday, December 5. Awardees (one from each district of PMEA) will be recognized during the 2023 PMEA Annual Conference (April 20-22 at Kalahari Resort & Conference Center) as well as in a virtual presentation, which will take place in May.
