Current Sophomores and Juniors who participated in a 2024 PMEA All-State Ensemble are eligible to apply for the 2025 All Eastern Honors Ensembles. 

Interested students selected to the 2024 PMEA All-State Band, Orchestra and Wind Ensembles (with the exception of violists and cellists) will need to submit an equalizer audition for ranking purposes to PMEA (no cost to do so).

*Only underclassmen selected to All-State Band, Orchestra and Wind Ensemble interested in applying for an All-East Honors Ensemble need to complete an All-State equalizer audition. 

****The Equalizer Audition does NOT automatically apply the students to the 2025 Eastern Division Honors Ensembles. They will still need to complete the separate application when it becomes available in late August.*****

This application is for winds, brass & strings. There is a separate application for percussionists.

 1. The window of opportunity to audition opens on Wednesday, May 15 and closes at the end of the day (11:59 p.m.) on Wednesday, June 5. Director must be a current PMEA member.  A confirmation email will be sent to the address used to register with SUBMITTABLE. Please check your SPAM filters for any communications.  

2. No identifying clothing may be worn (i.e. no school t-shirts, no name identification, no PMEA, NAfME All Eastern or National shirts) ** Additionally, please do not include any identifying information in the video file name or in the content of the recording  (i.e. your name or school name). 

3. The “Equalizer” excerpt must be recorded from start to finish without cuts and/or splices. Students' hands/body/face must be visible in the video. *As per PMEA audition policies, there can be no use of any device that can be perceived to give aid to a student once the audition process has begun (i.e. no earphone, airpods, etc.)  *Audition videos may be uploaded to the application (mp4 preferred) OR submitted as a link (YouTube or Vimeo files only are supported).

4. Although PMEA checks to ensure the videos play in the correct format and the file can be opened- PMEA is NOT responsible for the content repertoire of the video. Please be sure to record and submit the correct audition excerpt.

 

Tips for Recording in Submittable if uploading videos:

1. The size limit is 400 mb per video (no more than 800 mb for the entire submission)

2. Mp4 file types work best

This program has been established in honor of PMEA Executive Director Emerita Margaret Bauer.

Purpose

To provide grants to qualifying PMEA members who require funding for professional development, resources, equipment, or creative projects which will enhance music instruction, student learning and forward the mission of PMEA.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be a current active PMEA member and have been a member for at least one year prior to the grant request.
  • Applicants must complete the application form. No incomplete forms will be considered.
  • Applicants will be interviewed by the selection committee as part of the application process.
  • If selected for a grant, the recipient will submit a report to the committee within thirty days of completion of the professional development or project and write an article for the PMEA News based on the results.
  • If a request is denied it may resubmitted the following year. Members are eligible to apply for one grant every five years.

Funding

The maximum amount awarded for a single grant will be $1000.00. Grant money may not be used for transportation or hotel costs associated with conference attendance.

There are two main submission periods: 

Fall: Submissions must be received by November 1; expect notification around December 15

Spring: Submissions must be received by April 1; expect notification around May 15

Conference Session Proposal Information
 2025 PMEA Annual In-Service Conference, April 9-12, Kalahari Resort & Convention Center - Poconos

 Window of opportunity to submit closes at 11:59 PM on Monday, June 10.

 PMEA/NAfME members and PMEA/NAfME Corporate Sponsor Member companies are invited to submit educational session proposals for the PMEA Annual In-service Conference in the 2025 PMEA Call for Session Proposals. The PMEA Conference Planning Committee will utilize a blind review process for all proposals submitted. The final decision for inclusion in the annual conference will be that of the conference chair. Corporate Sponsor member session proposals must include a note of endorsement (letter/email) from the sponsoring company when submitted. Sponsoring companies will be listed in the program book. *For sessions promoting a specific product, an exhibit booth at the conference is required by the sponsoring company/organization.

Selection Process
 The PMEA Conference Planning Committee will be guided in the selection of sessions by the following criteria: 

  • Quality of presentation (objectives and organization)
  • Innovativeness
  • Importance and timeliness of the topic to the field
  • Level of participation for attendees
  • Practical applicability and program balance.

Procedure
 Complete the following Online Proposal Application Form which includes: Session Title, Description, Type of Session (to include interaction level - panel, lecture, demonstration) and Content Area. Be sure to include a current email address.

Session Participant(s)

  1. All selected presenters must be current members of NAfME or representatives of PMEA/NAfME Corporate Sponsor companies. No honoraria are paid to educational session presenters.
  2. All session proposals are reviewed blindly, therefore do NOT include any identifying information in the session description section of the proposal.
  3. Submission of a proposal is a commitment by all participating individuals to register for the conference at the applicable rate (full conference, daily rate on day of session or  attend as an exhibitor).
  4. Because of scheduling difficulties, individual requests for particular times will be considered, however cannot always be accommodated.
